The Eucharist as Presence and Sacrament

Worship of the Eucharist Outside of Mass

Eucharistic Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament
reserved in the tabernacle or through exposition using
a monstrance, ostensorium or the ciborium.

Prayer Before the Blessed Sacrament

Gaze upon your Creator, who truly loves you…
How many people wanted to see what you are privileged to see here, right now, in person - JESUS (body and blood, soul and divinity) truly present in front of you? See Matthew 13:16-17

  * A Eucharistic Retreat
Fr. John A. Hardon, S. J. (Eternal Life).
  The Blessed Virgin is our model of what our adoration of Christ in the Blessed Sacrament should be.

Adoration of Our Lord Reserved in the Tabernacle
  * The Holy Eucharist - Marian Catechist Manual
(Eternal Life).
  Once this fact of faith (Jesus Christ, God and man, is present in the Blessed Sacrament) is recognized, it is not difficult to see why prayer before the Blessed Sacrament is so efficacious. - Fr. John A. Hardon, S.J.

  * Prayer Before the Eucharistic Christ
Fr. John A. Hardon, S.J. (Daughters of St. Paul).
  From the book Theology of Prayer

  * The Imitation of Christ
Thomas A. Kempis.
  "What more can Your servant say in Your presence."

  * The Challenge of a Daily Holy Hour
George Francis (Soul Magazine).
  Our minds and hearts are changed from temporal worldly absorption to an eternal love for Christ.

  * How to Live in the Presence of God - Fr. John A. Hardon, S.J.
"The Savior is described by St. Luke as telling His followers to pray continually and never lose heart. Let us think seriously about what we are told. We need, that is we should, which means we are expected to, pray continually."

Adoration of Our Lord in the Monstrance

While Father John Hardon was placing the Blessed Sacrament in the monstrance for exposition, the face of Jesus appeared in the Host. This photograph was taken by Barbara Middleton, at Assumption Grotto's Convent Adoration Chapel, during the summer of 1998 in Detroit, Michigan. A full page photo appeared in the 2001 calendar of The Holy Trinity Apostolate.
  * Prayer and Suffering - Fr. John A. Hardon, S.J.
"If God gives you an abundant harvest of trials, it is a sign of the great holiness which He desires you to obtain."

  * The Value of Suffering in the Life of Christian Perfection - Fr. John A. Hardon, S.J.
"Suffering by itself is not sanctifying. Many people who are suffering are not necessarily profiting from their suffering. Evidently, then, we should do something with and about the suffering to profit from the experience. Hence the importance of knowing what suffering is and how we can alchemize it from mere pain to sanctity."

St. Peter Julian Eymard
